Website design for tradies who want the phone to ring

Tradie websites built for the phone in someone's hand: click-to-call on every screen, a page for every service and suburb you work in, and SEO and Google Ads to get you found.

The short answer

Website design for tradies is about one result: a stranger on a phone taps your number and books the job. We build fast mobile sites with a call button that never leaves the screen, a page for each service and the suburbs you actually work in, and your licence details on show. Then we add local SEO and Google Ads so the site gets found.

Most tradie websites look fine on a laptop and fail on a phone in a driveway: the number is buried and nothing says you work in the customer's suburb. Our team designs, writes and builds every site in-house at our Pallara office in Brisbane, and Amann Jhamb, our director and SEO consultant, plans the page structure and keywords before anything is designed.

How a tradie customer actually searches

Trade searches fall into two very different groups, and a good site handles both.

"Emergency plumber Wynnum", "electrician near me", "locksmith open now". The person has water on the floor or is locked out of the house. They scan the first few results, look for a number and a sign you are local and available, and call. For this search the site needs the phone number at the top, a sticky call button, your hours stated plainly and a line confirming you cover their area.

The planned job

"Switchboard upgrade cost Brisbane", "roof restoration Logan", "retaining wall builders Ipswich". This customer has a week or two, gets three quotes and compares. They want photos of jobs like theirs, a rough idea of process and price drivers, reviews, and a quote form that doesn't ask for their life story. This is where a separate page per service earns its keep.

If your site only serves one of these, you lose the other half of the work.

What a tradie website needs

This is the checklist we build against.

  • Click-to-call on every screen. A sticky call button on mobile and your number in the header, with every tap tracked in GA4 so you can see which pages bring in calls.
  • One page per service. Hot water, blocked drains and gas fitting each get their own page with their own photos and questions answered.
  • Service area pages that are genuinely different. A Logan page should mention Logan jobs, not copy the Ipswich page with a new name.
  • Licence numbers on show. See the next section.
  • Real job photos. Your ute, your crew, your finished work.
  • Reviews close to the call button. A short block of Google reviews near the top of service pages.
  • A short quote form. Name, phone, suburb, job type and an optional photo upload. That's it.
  • Speed on a mid-range phone. We test on mobile data, not the office Wi-Fi, before launch.

Licence numbers on show

Most Queensland building trades, including plumbers and many roofers, need a licence from the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC), and QBCC rules require licensed contractors to include their licence details in advertising. A website counts as advertising. Electrical contractors hold a separate electrical contractor licence, and showing that number builds the same trust. We put licence numbers in the footer and on the contact page, and link to the public register so customers can check you.

Who we build for

We work with plumbers, electricians, locksmiths and roofing contractors, along with arborists, tilers, waterproofers, builders and other tradies across South East Queensland. We also work remotely with businesses in every Australian state and territory, by video call or phone.

Plumbing businesses have their own page: website design for plumbers. Builders and construction firms should see construction website design.

Some trades have their own pages: SEO and websites for landscapers, digital marketing for cleaning companies and SEO for removalists.

Trade and home service clients we work with include Supreme Turf Landscaping, Singh Landscaping, Absolute Cleaning, Virk Cleaning, Desi Removalist and PicDrop Removal.

Results from trade clients

These figures come from our case study pages. Ranking figures are from SE Ranking rank tracking, Google Australia.

Budget Tree Removal

A Brisbane tree removal and lopping business. We designed the website and look after their SEO, content and Google Ads, so the site and the paid campaigns point in the same direction. When rank tracking started on 15 May 2026, they had 4 keywords on page one, all brand terms. By 17 September 2026 that was 39 of 154 tracked keywords, with "emergency tree removal brisbane" at #3 and "tree lopping Fitzgibbon" at #1. Read the Budget Tree Removal case study.

Desi Tradies

Desi Tradies does retaining walls, driveways, landscaping and fencing, and all four were crammed onto one services page. We designed a new brand and website with a separate page for each trade, and we run their SEO and Meta Ads. The client reported website traffic up 55% and leads up 40% (their figures, not independently audited). Read the Desi Tradies case study.

Waterproof Co.

A Brisbane waterproofing business. We designed the website and delivered a 200-day social media content pack. When tracking started on 4 September 2025, none of the 9 keywords tracked then were on page one. By 17 September 2026, 6 of 68 were on page one and 16 in the top 30. Delta Heavy Towing

Heavy vehicle towing and machinery transport across Brisbane and Toowoomba. We designed the website and ran a full SEO engagement. On 10 September 2025, 2 tracked keywords were on page one. By 17 September 2026, 77 of 148 tracked keyword positions across Brisbane and Toowoomba were on page one, and 40 were in the top 3. Read the Delta Heavy Towing case study.

Digital marketing for tradies, beyond the website

Google Business Profile and reviews

For "near me" searches, your Google Business Profile often matters more than your website. We set up categories, service areas and photos, plus a simple review request link you can text to customers after each job. See local SEO and Google Business Profile.

Burst pipes and lockouts don't wait for SEO to kick in. Google Ads can put you at the top today for urgent searches like "emergency electrician Brisbane". We run call ads with schedules that match your real on-call hours, so you aren't paying for clicks when nobody can answer.

Missed calls and follow-ups

You can't answer while you're on a roof. Get360, our GoHighLevel CRM, sends a text back to missed callers and reminds you to follow up quotes. See our Small Business CRM.

Marketing tip

After your next five jobs, text each customer your Google review link within an hour of finishing. Reviews that mention the suburb and the job ("hot water system in Wynnum") help your local ranking.

How we work

  1. Discovery call. A free 45-minute call about your trade, your suburbs and the jobs you want more of. You get a written, fixed-price quote after it.
  2. Plan. We map out the pages and the searches behind each one.
  3. Build. Our team designs and builds the site, hosted on our own Australian server alongside 200+ client sites. A typical small business site takes 1 to 2 weeks once your photos and content are ready.
  4. Launch and track. Call tracking, GA4 and Google Search Console go in before launch.
  5. Grow. Monthly SEO, reviews and ads if you want them, with plain-English reports.

We won't promise you the top spot on Google. We will build a site that makes it easy for Google and customers to pick you. Book a discovery call or get a quote.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Still wondering about something? Call 07 3067 8910 or 0425 879 379, mon to fri, 8:30am to 5:30pm.

  • Builds are fixed price, so the figure on your written quote is what you pay. Most five page brochure sites we build land between $900 and $2,500, depending on the number of service and suburb pages and extras like quote forms or booking. We don't publish a price list. After a free 45-minute discovery call we send a written quote.
