Case study

Delta Heavy Towing: local SEO for a Brisbane heavy towing company

Delta Heavy Towing tows and transports heavy vehicles and machinery across Brisbane and Toowoomba, and down to the Gold Coast. Our team ran a full SEO engagement for the business, from an audit through to a year-long content publishing plan. Alongside the search work we designed the website.

The short version

When rank tracking started in Brisbane on 10 September 2025, 2 of the tracked keywords were on page one of Google. As of 17 September 2026, 77 of 148 tracked keyword positions across Brisbane and Toowoomba are on page one, and 40 are in the top 3. (Source: SE Ranking rank tracking, Google Australia.)

What we did for Delta Heavy Towing

  • Website designDesigned and built in-house, structured for search from day one.
  • SEOOn-page, technical and content work with dated rank tracking.

What we delivered

The search work is the part with the tidiest numbers, but it was never the whole job for Delta Heavy Towing. We designed and built the website, structured for search from the first wireframe rather than optimised after the fact. The SEO programme runs on top of that: technical fixes, content written for the searches that actually turn into enquiries, and links earned in the client's own market.

Because one team does all of it, the site, the search work and the ads pull in the same direction.

The client

Delta Heavy Towing handles heavy vehicle towing, haulage and machinery transport. Its jobs include broken-down trucks, prime movers, buses and oversize loads, which are very different from a standard car tow.

The challenge

Heavy towing sites often read the same. Much of the competitor copy in this niche is generic and says little about the actual work. When a fleet manager has a truck stuck on a highway, they want proof the operator can handle that exact vehicle.

Heavy towing also sits inside a lot of Queensland regulation, such as the Heavy Vehicle National Law and NHVR rules. Content that ignores that detail struggles to earn trust from buyers or from Google.

What our team did

We worked through the engagement in four phases:

  1. SEO audit. We checked technical SEO, on-page setup, content quality and off-page authority. The audit found missing location terms, no schema markup, generic AI-style copy, long URL slugs and weak authority compared with competitors.
  2. 30-day roadmap. A day-by-day plan covered Google Search Console and Google Business Profile setup, title and meta rewrites, JSON-LD schema, URL clean-up, internal linking, review collection, NAP checks, directory citations and link outreach, plus a 301 redirect plan for four URLs.
  3. Strategy document. This included update briefs for existing pages, briefs for new pages and a 50-topic blog calendar.
  4. Content production. We wrote 64 pieces: 6 new service pages, 8 page rewrites and 50 blog articles. Each piece uses real operating detail, such as tonnage, highway corridors and Queensland rules like Chain of Responsibility.

The rewrites and new pages were scheduled to go live in the first half of May 2026, followed by one blog article a week through to May 2027.

Results

Delta’s keywords are tracked in two places: Brisbane (90 keywords) and Toowoomba (58 keywords).

  • Brisbane: 51 of 90 tracked keywords on page one, 24 in the top 3
  • Toowoomba: 26 of 58 tracked keywords on page one, 16 in the top 3
  • #1 for “heavy truck towing” and “heavy tow trucks” in Brisbane (about 320 searches a month each)
  • #3 for “heavy vehicle towing” in Brisbane and #1 in Toowoomba (about 210 searches a month)
  • #3 for “heavy duty towing” in Brisbane (about 110 searches a month)
  • #3 for “Bus Towing Service” in Brisbane (about 110 searches a month)
  • #3 for “heavy towing near us” in Brisbane (about 70 searches a month)

We never promise rankings, and the broader “towing services brisbane” search (#10) is still a work in progress, but the business now shows up for many of its core heavy towing terms.

Fun fact

Google’s Knowledge Graph launched in 2012 with the slogan “things, not strings”, the shift from matching words to understanding entities.

Marketing tip (lesson learned)

Write about the jobs only you can describe. Next time your team finishes a tricky recovery, jot down the vehicle, the weight, the road and what made it hard. Those notes make far better website content than any general “We tow trucks” page.

Towing and transport businesses can see how we plan this kind of work on our marketing for tradies page. Every engagement like this starts with an SEO audit, then moves into local SEO in Brisbane and regional areas such as Toowoomba.
