Digital marketing for embroidery, screen printing and DTF businesses in Australia

More quote requests.Fewer wasted clicks.

A plain polo shirt has a price. Now make it 36 polos across six sizes, with a left-chest logo in four thread colours and staff names on the back. That order has no price until somebody has looked at the artwork. Most marketing advice, and most website templates, fall over right there, and it's where we spend most of our time with embroidery, screen printing and DTF clients.

What we do for decoration businesses

Five services, one team, pulling in the same direction

This page explains what we build and run for decoration businesses: custom eCommerce websites, SEO, AI search optimisation, Google Ads and Meta Ads. The examples come from our work with a Brisbane embroidery, printing and workwear business.

The short answer

  • Your customers are already searching. "Embroidery near me" gets about 5,400 searches a month in Australia.
  • Embroidery, screen printing and DTF sell to different buyers at different order sizes. Give each one its own page and its own ad campaign.
  • A store for decorated garments needs artwork upload, quantity pricing and a proof step. A standard product page can't do that.
  • Google Ads in this industry pays for a lot of hobbyist clicks unless you block them.
  • For our Brisbane embroidery and printing client, cost per quote request dropped from $68 to $41 over 12 weeks once the ads were split by service line.

Search demand in Australia

What your customers are actually searching

We check demand before we build anything. Here's what the Australian numbers looked like when we checked them in September 2026.

Source: SE Ranking, Australian keyword database, checked 27 September 2026. "Per month" is average monthly searches in Australia. Difficulty is SE Ranking's 0 to 100 estimate of how hard a term is to rank for.

Most buyers want someone local

The "near me" searches are the big ones. That makes the Google map results as important as the website itself.

The easy wins are specific

Plain "screen printing" sits at 92, which is years of work for most sites. The DTF terms and product searches like "embroidered polo shirts" score under 15, and those come from people ready to order.

Three methods, three markets

Embroidery, screen printing and DTF sell to different people

Most decoration shops offer two or three methods, and most of their websites put them all on one page called something like "Printing". That hurts in two places. Google can't work out which page to show for which search. And the ad budget drifts towards whatever is cheapest to sell, not what the shop actually wants more of.

Embroidery

Workwear and uniforms that get reordered.

Best for
Workwear, corporate uniforms, caps and hospitality.
Buyers care about
How it looks after fifty washes, and a professional finish.
Setup
A one-off digitising cost for each logo.
Where the margin is
Reorders. The logo stays on file, so next year's order is easy to win.
Search demand
"embroidery near me" 5,400 a month, "uniform embroidery" 390.
How we market it
Uniform and product pages, local SEO, and reorder-friendly business accounts.

Screen printing

Cheaper per shirt as the run grows.

Best for
Events, bands, schools, clubs and clothing brands.
Buyers care about
Price per shirt at their quantity, and hitting the event date.
Setup
Screens set up for each colour in the design.
Where the margin is
Volume. Setup is spread across the whole run.
Search demand
"screen printing" 4,400 a month, but difficulty is 92.
How we market it
Quantity price breaks on the site and Google Ads timed to the season.

DTF printing

Full colour, short runs, and a trade side.

Best for
Short runs, one-offs and full-colour designs.
Buyers care about
No minimums, photo-quality colour and quick turnaround.
Setup
No screens, so small orders stay viable.
Where the margin is
Often in selling transfers and gang sheets to other decorators.
Search demand
"dtf printing" 540 a month, with difficulty under 10.
How we market it
Online transfer ordering, Shopping ads and low-competition search terms.

So we give each method a proper page with its minimums, turnaround, rough pricing and real examples. Then we add a plain comparison page to help a buyer choose. In our experience that comparison page is also the one AI assistants are most likely to pull from, which we get to below.

Service 01 · Websites

Custom eCommerce website development

An online store for a decoration business has jobs a normal store never has to do. When we scope one, the list usually looks like this.

Live pricing as they build

The customer picks a garment, then the decoration method and position, and the price updates as they go.

Honest quantity breaks

Price breaks that match how your costs really work, with setup, screen or digitising fees shown up front instead of turning up on the invoice.

Mixed-size ordering

A footy club can order 40 shirts across eight sizes, with names and numbers, in one go.

Artwork upload and proofs

Nothing goes to production until the customer approves the mock-up, and that approval is saved against the order.

Quotes with the files attached

Jobs that can't be priced online get a quote request with the artwork and quantities already attached, so you're not chasing emails.

DTF by sheet or length

Ordering by sheet size or length for DTF transfers, for trade customers who press their own.

Repeat business accounts

Business accounts can repeat last year's uniform order with the logo already on file.

Quotes tracked as sales

Tracking counts a quote request as a conversion. In this industry the quote often is the sale.

We build on Shopify, WooCommerce or OpenCart, and build custom when the ordering rules get too complicated for a theme. Method pages and product categories are planned before design starts, so they're live on launch day rather than bolted on later. More on our ecommerce web design page.

Service 02 · SEO

SEO for print and embroidery shops

Even when the order goes through online, most of this work is local. People want to drop off a sample shirt, see a stitch-out, or pick up the day before an event. So the Google Business Profile and suburb pages sit at the centre of it. Here's the order we usually work in.

  1. Fix the technical problems

So Google can crawl and index every method, product and suburb page.

  2. Set up the Google Business Profile

Right primary category, every decoration service listed separately, and photos of real finished jobs.

  3. Method and product pages

A page for each decoration method and each product category with real demand behind it: polos, hi-vis, caps, school uniforms, team kits.

  4. Suburb pages where they earn it

Only where people actually search with the suburb in the phrase. Everywhere else is covered on a regional page.

  5. Structured data

Product and business structured data, which helps with rich results in normal search.

  6. Reviews after every job

Ask for a review after every job, and reply to every one.

Service 03 · AI search

AI search optimisation (AIO, GEO and AEO)

A growing number of buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI Overviews before they click on anything. The questions tend to be specific. "Is DTF or screen printing better for 30 shirts?" "What's the minimum for custom embroidered caps?"

There's no special trick to being part of those answers, and anyone selling you an "AI schema" is overselling.Google's AI features are built on the same index and ranking systems as normal search. They reward a page that answers the question plainly and a business they can identify with confidence.

What that means for a decoration business

  • A method comparison pageIt answers the question directly, with your real minimums, turnaround and price guidance.
  • Minimums and fees in plain textMinimum order quantities, turnaround times and setup fees written on the page. Not in a PDF. Not in an image.
  • Consistent business detailsThe same business name, address and phone number on your website, Google Business Profile and directory listings.
  • Reviews that say what was madeYou can get those just by asking customers to mention what they ordered.

We also track how often a business is named in AI answers for its main questions, so you can see whether it's moving.

Service 04 · Google Ads

Paid search suits this industry because the intent is strong. Someone typing "dtf printing near me" wants to buy something this week. The waste is just as easy to predict, though, and most of it comes down to how the account is set up.

Split campaigns by service line

Separate campaigns for embroidery, printing and uniforms, each with its own keywords, ads and budget.

Block the hobbyists early

These words also pull in people shopping for machines, thread, film, powder and heat presses, or after tutorials, free designs and jobs. We add those as negatives from day one and read the search terms report every week.

Plan budgets around the calendar

School uniforms, sports seasons, end of financial year workwear budgets and end of year corporate orders all move demand. The budget should follow.

Send each ad to the matching page

An ad for embroidered polos lands on embroidered polos, with a quote form and a tap-to-call number. The homepage wastes the click.

If you sell standard products online, such as blank garments or DTF transfers, Shopping and Performance Max campaigns are worth testing once the product feed is clean.

Google Ads management →

Service 05 · Meta Ads

Meta Ads

Decorated garments are visual, and Facebook and Instagram are where people notice good work. A short clip of a machine stitching a logo, or a press peeling back a DTF transfer, shows quality in a way a flat product photo can't.

Show the work

Short videos of real jobs coming off the machine. That's usually where we start.

Retarget the undecided

Someone who looked at your uniform page or started a quote and left gets reminded while they're still deciding.

Reach buyers before they search

Sports clubs, schools and local businesses, found with lead forms and lookalike audiences built from your customer list, often a season before they'd look on their own.

We handle creative, audiences and tracking in-house and report Meta results in the same weekly update as search.

We're based in Pallara, in Brisbane's south, and our print and embroidery results so far come from South East Queensland. We work with decoration businesses around Australia, including Sydney and Melbourne, over phone and video.

A note on time zones. Queensland doesn't do daylight saving, so between October and April we're an hour behind the southern states. We book calls around your day, not ours.

Frequently asked questions

Questions print and embroidery owners ask us

Still wondering about something? Call 07 3067 8910 or 0425 879 379, Mon to Fri, 8:30am to 5:30pm.

  • Start with the searches that already exist. Set up your Google Business Profile properly and give each decoration method its own page. Add product category pages for the items people search for, like embroidered polos or custom caps. Google Ads then catches people ready to order, and Meta Ads shows your finished work and follows up with website visitors.
