Case study

Shopace: Google Ads split by service line, plus local SEO

Shopace is a Brisbane business offering custom embroidery, printing and workwear. We restructured its Google Ads so each service line had its own campaign and budget, checked the tracking regularly, and sent the owner a short plain-English report every week. Alongside the ads, our team worked on the site’s organic visibility for local embroidery, printing and uniform searches.

The short version

As of 17 September 2026, Shopace had 39 tracked keywords on page one of Google and 84 in the top 30, out of 239 tracked. It sits at #1 for “embroidery Goodna”, “embroidery Redbank” and “workwear printing Redbank Plains”. (Source: SE Ranking rank tracking, Google Australia.)

What we did for Shopace

  • Website designPlanned, designed and built by our own team, then kept up to date.
  • SEOTechnical fixes, content and links, reported by enquiries not rankings.
  • Google AdsCampaigns built, tracked and optimised by our in-house team.
  • Meta AdsFacebook and Instagram campaigns, creative and audiences managed by us.

What we delivered

The search work is the part with the tidiest numbers, but it was never the whole job for Shopace. We designed and built the website, structured for search from the first wireframe rather than optimised after the fact. The SEO programme runs on top of that: technical fixes, content written for the searches that actually turn into enquiries, and links earned in the client's own market. We also run the paid side, Google Ads for people already searching and Meta Ads for the people who are not yet, and report both in the same plain-English update as the organic numbers.

Because one team does all of it, the site, the search work and the ads pull in the same direction.

The challenge

Businesses with several service lines often run everything through one or two broad campaigns. That makes the numbers hard to read. A strong month for uniforms can hide a poor month for printing, and the budget drifts towards whatever Google finds easiest to sell rather than what the business wants more of.

The other common issue is reporting. Many owners get a long dashboard export they don’t have time to read, so they can’t tell whether the ads are paying off.

There was a search problem too. Shopace serves customers across Ipswich, Logan and the suburbs in between, and people usually search with their suburb in the phrase. Paying for every one of those clicks gets expensive, so the business needed to show up in the organic results as well.

What we did

Split campaigns by service line

We set up separate campaigns for embroidery, printing and uniforms. Each one has its own keywords and ads, plus a separate budget. Now the owner can see which service is bringing in enquiries and move money where it earns the most.

Tracking health checks

Google Ads can only optimise towards what it can measure. So we check the conversion tracking on a regular schedule, making sure form fills and calls are recorded once and only once. A broken tag can quietly send a campaign in the wrong direction for weeks, and these checks catch that early.

Weekly plain-English owner reports

Every week the owner gets a short summary: what we spent, what came back, what changed and what we’re doing next. No jargon, no 20-page export. If something needs a decision, the report says so in the first line.

Local SEO for suburb searches

We made it clear to Google which services Shopace offers and which suburbs it serves, so searches like “embroidery Redbank” or “custom uniforms Logan” have a matching page to show. Organic clicks cost nothing per click, which takes pressure off the ads budget.

Results

SEO

These figures come from SE Ranking rank tracking on Google Australia, as of 17 September 2026. They’re tracked keywords, meaning the specific searches we chose to monitor, and positions move from week to week.

  • 39 tracked keywords on page one, out of 239 tracked
  • 84 tracked keywords in the top 30
  • #1 for “embroidery Goodna”, “embroidery Redbank” and “workwear printing Redbank Plains”
  • #3 for “custom uniforms Ipswich” and “custom uniforms Logan”
  • #4 for “embroidery Browns Plains”

Most of these are suburb searches, and that’s deliberate. Someone searching “embroidery Goodna” wants a local supplier, and a page-one listing puts Shopace in front of them without paying for the click. We don’t promise rankings to anyone, but a spread like this across 239 tracked keywords gives the business steady visibility that doesn’t switch off with the ad budget.

  • Cost per enquiry by service line: embroidery $36, printing $44, uniforms $47 per quote request (average $41, down from $68), June to August 2026

Fun fact

Google AdWords launched in October 2000 with about 350 advertisers. It was renamed Google Ads in 2018, and the accounts are far more complex today, which is exactly why clear structure pays off.

Marketing tip (lesson learned)

Open your Google Ads account this week and go to Goals, then Conversions. Check that each conversion action shows recent activity and that none are counting the same enquiry twice. If a status says “inactive” or “misconfigured”, fix that before you touch any bids.
