Digital marketing for RTOs in Australia

More enrolments.Marketing that stays compliant.

Nobody types "RTO" into Google when they need a white card. They type the course, often with a suburb or the word "online" on the end, and they book whoever answers the basics first: when, where, how long and how much. The RTOs that win enrolments online are the ones whose course pages answer that plainly, and whose ads stay inside ASQA's marketing rules while they do it.

What we do for training providers

Five services, one team, all pointed at enrolments

This page explains what we build and run for registered training organisations: websites, SEO, AI search optimisation, Google Ads and Meta Ads, and how we keep all of it inside the marketing requirements of the 2025 Standards for RTOs.

Service

Websites for RTOs

Course pages that answer the questions learners ask before they enrol: course code, duration, delivery mode, cost, funding, entry requirements and the next dates. Booking or enquiry is one tap away.

The short answer

  • Learners search for the course, not for an RTO. "White card" gets about 33,100 searches a month in Australia. "RTO marketing" gets 10.
  • Every course you want enrolments in needs its own page with the code, duration, delivery mode, cost, funding and next dates written out.
  • Short-course tickets, full qualifications and corporate training sell to different people on different timelines. Market them separately.
  • ASQA requires your RTO code, or a link to your National Register entry, on your advertising, including ads a marketer runs for you.
  • Track enrolments, not just enquiries, so ad budget moves to the courses that actually fill.

Search demand in Australia

We check demand before we build anything. These are the Australian numbers for some of the most common RTO courses, checked in September 2026.

Source: SE Ranking, Australian keyword database, checked 28 September 2026. "Per month" is average monthly searches in Australia. Difficulty is SE Ranking's 0 to 100 estimate of how hard a term is to rank for.

The big course names are hard

Plain "first aid course" scores 88 and "certificate iii in individual support" 89. National providers and TAFEs sit on those, and they are years of work for most RTOs.

Add a city and it opens up

"white card course brisbane" scores 12 and "forklift licence near me" 29. A properly built course and location page can compete for those, and the people searching them want a date this week.

Three kinds of training, three markets

Short courses, qualifications and corporate training sell to different people

Most RTOs deliver more than one of these, and most RTO websites list everything on one "Courses" page with the same enquiry form. That makes it hard for Google to match a search to the right page, and hard for an ad budget to follow the courses that actually fill.

Short courses and tickets

White card, first aid, RSA, forklift, traffic control.

Who books
Individuals who need a ticket for work, and employers booking groups.
How fast they decide
Hours to days. Many need the ticket before they can start a job.
What they compare
Next available date, location, price and whether it can be done online.
Search demand
"white card" 33,100 a month, "first aid course" 22,200.
What wins the booking
Live dates and online booking on the course page.
How we market it
Course and city pages, map pack, Google Ads split by course and location.

Qualifications

Certificate III and IV, diplomas, often government funded.

Who enrols
Career changers, school leavers and workers who need a formal qualification.
How fast they decide
Weeks to months. Most compare three or four providers first.
What they compare
Cost, funding eligibility, study mode, duration, placement and job outcomes.
Search demand
"certificate iii in individual support" 14,800 a month.
What wins the enrolment
A clear answer on funding and a person to talk to.
How we market it
Detailed course pages, Meta lead forms, retargeting and email follow-up.

Corporate and RPL

Onsite training, workforce upskilling and recognition of prior learning.

Who buys
HR, safety and operations managers, and experienced workers seeking RPL.
How fast they decide
Varies. Businesses often need a quote, a proposal and sign-off.
What they compare
Onsite delivery, group pricing, scheduling and training records.
Search demand
"rpl" 6,600 a month, "recognition of prior learning" 1,800.
What wins the work
Proof you have trained similar teams, and a fast quote.
How we market it
Business-facing course pages, quote forms and Google Ads on business terms.

So we give each course its own page, group them the way learners think about them, and market each group on its own timeline.

Compliance

Marketing that stays inside the Standards

RTO advertising has rules most agencies have never read. Under the 2025 Standards for RTOs, which took full effect on 1 July 2025, the RTO is responsible for its marketing, including marketing done for it by a third party. That includes us.

An ad that gets clicks but breaches the Standards is not a good ad.We build these checks into every page, ad and post before it goes live. See ASQA's marketing and advertising fact sheet.
  1. RTO code on every ad

Your registration code, or a link to your entry on the National Register, on advertising and marketing, including ads we run for you.

  2. Accredited and non-accredited kept apart

Pages and ads make clear which training leads to a nationally recognised qualification or statement of attainment, and which doesn't.

  3. The NRT logo used properly

The Nationally Recognised Training logo appears only with nationally recognised training, under its conditions of use.

  4. Courses kept current

When a training product is superseded or removed, the course page, ads and metadata are updated rather than left running.

  5. No promises you can't keep

No guaranteed jobs, licences or completion times in headlines or ad copy. We write to what the course actually delivers.

  6. A record of what ran

We keep copies of approved ads and page changes, so you can show what was published and when if ASQA asks.

Service 01 · Websites

Websites for RTOs

A training provider's website does a different job to most business sites. The course page is the product page, the booking page and a compliance document at the same time. When we scope one, the list usually looks like this.

Course pages that answer first

Course code and title, duration, delivery mode, cost, funding, entry requirements, units and the next dates, in plain text near the top.

Live dates and online booking

For short courses, the next available sessions and a booking path that works on a phone. Many learners book the same day they search.

Funding questions up front

A few eligibility questions before the enquiry, so your team talks to people who qualify for the funded place they asked about.

Enquiries that reach a person

Forms go straight to the right course coordinator, with the course and campus already attached.

Student system connections

Where your student management system has an API, bookings and enquiries can go straight into it instead of being re-keyed.

Course code changes handled

When a qualification is superseded, the old page redirects to the new one so rankings carry across.

Compliance built in

RTO code in the footer and on course pages, the NRT logo only where it belongs, and links to your student handbook and policies.

Enrolments tracked as conversions

Tracking counts a booking or enrolment, not just a page view, so you can see which courses the site is filling.

We build on WordPress or custom PHP depending on how many courses, campuses and integrations you have. Course structure is planned before design starts, so every course is live on launch day.

Service 02 · SEO

SEO for RTOs

RTO SEO is course SEO. The national course names are dominated by TAFEs and large providers, so we go after the searches a smaller RTO can actually win: the course plus a city, "near me", "online", and the specific questions learners ask. Here's the order we usually work in.

  1. Fix the technical problems

So Google can crawl and index every course, campus and venue page, and old course codes redirect properly.

  2. A page for every course

Each course that you want enrolments in gets its own page, written around how learners search for it.

  3. Campus and venue pages

A page for each place you train, where people actually search with that city or suburb in the phrase.

  4. Google Business Profile per location

Right category, every course listed as a service, and photos of real classes and facilities.

  5. Answer the questions

How long it takes, what it costs, whether it is funded, what the assessment involves. Plain answers on the course pages and in guides.

  6. Reviews that name the course

Ask every learner for a review after they finish, and reply to every one.

SEO plans start from $900 a month. We report monthly on rankings, enquiries and bookings by course.

Service 03 · AI search

AI search optimisation (AIO, GEO and AEO)

Learners increasingly ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI Overviews before they click. "How long does a Cert IV in Training and Assessment take?" "Can I do my white card online in Queensland?" "Is Cert III in Individual Support free?"

There's no special trick to being part of those answers.Google's AI features are built on the same index and ranking systems as normal search. They reward a page that answers the question plainly and a provider they can identify with confidence.

What that means for an RTO

  • Plain answers on course pagesDuration, cost, funding, delivery mode and assessment written as text on the page. Not only in a PDF course guide.
  • Exact course codes and titlesThe official code and title used consistently, so AI tools can match your page to the qualification being asked about.
  • Consistent provider detailsThe same business name, RTO code, address and phone number on your website, Google Business Profile and directory listings.
  • Reviews that say what was studiedAsk learners to mention the course they completed. It gives AI tools something specific to cite.

We also track how often your RTO is named in AI answers for its main courses, so you can see whether it's moving.

Service 04 · Google Ads

Paid search works well for training because the intent is strong. Someone typing "white card course brisbane" wants a date this week. Clicks are cheap next to many industries, which makes it easy to waste money quietly.

Split campaigns by course and place

Each course group and each campus gets its own campaign and budget, so money follows the courses that fill.

Block the wrong searches early

"Free", "answers", "jobs", "salary" and searches for courses you don't run go in as negatives from day one. We read the search terms report every week.

Plan around intakes and funding

Qualification intakes, start of year, end of financial year and funding rounds all move demand. Budgets should follow.

Track enrolments, not clicks

Bookings and enrolments are fed back into Google Ads where your systems allow it, so it learns which clicks turn into learners.

Every ad carries your RTO code or a link to your National Register entry, and lands on the matching course page, never the homepage.

Service 05 · Meta Ads

Meta Ads for RTOs

Most people don't wake up planning to study. Facebook and Instagram reach them before they start searching, which suits qualifications with a longer decision time.

Show real training

Short videos of your trainers, facilities and practical sessions. It shows what the course is actually like, in a way stock photos can't.

Lead forms with the right questions

Qualification enquiries collected in the app, with a couple of eligibility questions, and sent straight to your team to call.

Retarget the undecided

Someone who read a course page or started an enquiry and left gets reminded while they're still comparing providers.

Ad copy is written inside ASQA's rules: RTO code included, recognised and non-accredited training kept distinct, no guaranteed job outcomes. We report Meta in the same update as search.

Frequently asked questions

Questions RTO owners and managers ask us

Still wondering about something? Call 07 3067 8910 or 0425 879 379, Mon to Fri, 8:30am to 5:30pm.

  • Start with the courses people already search for. Give every course its own page with the code, duration, delivery mode, cost, funding and next dates, and set up a Google Business Profile for each place you train. Google Ads then catches people ready to book, and Meta Ads reaches people considering a qualification before they start searching.
