The short answer
We design and build websites for Richmond cafes, restaurants, bars and venues, with menus a phone can read, a booking button that works and pages that load quickly on a crowded mobile network. Builds are fixed scope and fixed price, hosted in Australia, and supported by our team in Brisbane without a lock in contract.
When the MCG empties, the crowd picks dinner on its phones
Richmond has an unusual hospitality problem. On a match night the MCG empties into Yarra Park and a large part of that crowd walks straight up to Swan Street looking for a table, a pint or a late feed. They search while they walk. They pick from whatever loads first, has a menu they can read without pinching the screen, and shows a time they can book.
That pattern repeats on a smaller scale across the suburb's other strips. Bridge Road mixes dining with fashion and homewares, and gets a lunch trade from the Epworth hospital and the offices nearby. Victoria Street, on the Abbotsford border, is one of Melbourne's best known Vietnamese food streets, where a lot of diners arrive already knowing the dish they want and search for it by name. Church Street runs south towards Cremorne, and its cafes serve the design studios and tech offices there.
So a Richmond venue site is judged in a few seconds, usually outdoors, often on a network shared with thousands of other phones. Heavy video headers and PDF menus lose that test.
What a venue site in Richmond actually needs
A menu written as text.
Not a PDF or a photo of the board. Text loads faster, reads on any phone, and lets Google match you to searches for a specific dish, which matters a great deal on Victoria Street.
Booking that takes one tap.
We connect the booking platform you already use, or build a simple enquiry flow for functions and group bookings. Either way it sits at the top of the page on mobile.
Opening hours that change on game days.
If you open early or run a pre match menu, the site and your Google listing should say so. We set up the site so your staff can update hours and specials without calling us.
Function and event pages.
Private rooms, rooftop hire and corporate lunches deserve their own pages with capacity, sample menus and a proper enquiry form, because those are the higher value bookings.
Speed as a design requirement.
Compressed images, no autoplay video on mobile, and hosting in a Sydney data centre. A page that stalls on a busy network costs you the table.
Ordering, if it earns its keep.
Pickup and delivery ordering can run through your own site so you keep the customer details. We'll tell you plainly if a third party app suits your volume better.
How diners find a Richmond venue
Most hospitality searches here are "near me" or "[cuisine] Richmond", and the map results decide them. Your Google Business Profile, your review count and your photos carry most of that weight. The website supports it by confirming the details Google reads, including address, hours, menu and booking link.
Competition is heavy. Swan Street and Victoria Street each have dozens of venues within a few hundred metres, so the map pack is often decided by distance and review volume. You can't move your front door, but you can make sure your listing and site agree, that your menu is indexable, and that you appear for the dishes and occasions people actually type. Diners from Cremorne, Burnley and South Yarra see many of the same results.
Other inner Melbourne suburbs we build for
We also design sites for businesses in Cremorne, Collingwood and South Melbourne, plus Abbotsford, Burnley and South Yarra. See website design in Melbourne or the full list of service areas.
From first call to a live booking page
A walk through your current site on a video call
We look at it on a phone together, the way a diner on Swan Street would, and note where it slows or confuses.
Scope, price and dates agreed in writing
Pages, booking integration and ordering are settled before work begins, so nothing gets added halfway through.
Built on a staging link
You and your floor manager test it on your own phones before launch, including the menu update process.
Launch, hosting and support
Hosting in Australia, plus Managed Support for menu changes, broken links or anything else that goes wrong on a Friday night.
Why venues work with us from Brisbane
One team builds, hosts and supports the site.
You won't be passed between a designer, a hosting company and a freelancer when the booking button stops working.
Support that replies in 1 to 3 hours.
Your account manager knows your venue and your site, so you don't have to explain the problem twice.
"You're not in Melbourne. Does that matter?"
Not for this work. We run projects through video calls and screen shares, and our only office is in Pallara, Brisbane. What matters is that someone answers when you call, and someone does.
