The short answer
Travel agents need to be found for the searches big booking sites don't own: a community, a niche, a document service or a regional town. We build the website, write a page for each of those searches, earn links from relevant travel and community sites, and run Google and Meta ads where the numbers work.
Where a travel agent can actually rank
Type "cheap flights to Delhi" into Google and page one belongs to airlines, booking sites and comparison engines. Trying to outrank them there is a poor use of an SEO budget.
The searches an agent can win look different. They carry something the big sites don't cover well: a community, a niche, a regional town, or a service that needs a real person to handle it. That is where we point the work.
How travel customers search, and what they expect to find
| Search pattern | What the person wants | What the page needs |
|---|---|---|
| indian travel agent brisbane | An agent who knows the route, the family visits and the community | Who you serve, who they will speak to, a phone number, and the routes and packages you actually book |
| oci application, indian passport renewal brisbane | Help with a document, usually with a date in mind | The documents needed, typical timing, what you do and what the government does, and your service fee |
| travel agent bundaberg, travel agent mackay | A local agent in a town that may not have many left | An honest page on how you look after that town (phone, video, email), with no pretend office |
| group tour japan from brisbane | A fixed-date package with a deadline | Dates, inclusions, a price from, seats left and how to hold a place |
| travel agent near me | Someone close, right now | A complete Google Business Profile with reviews and the same address as your website |
Each row is a separate page on the site, not a paragraph on a "services" page. Someone after passport help who lands on honeymoon packages leaves.
What the SAI World Travel numbers show
SAI World Travel is a Brisbane travel agency serving the South Asian community across Australia. It books flights and tour packages, and helps with document services such as OCI card applications and Indian passport renewals. We designed its website and run its SEO, including the off-page and link building work.
When rank tracking started on 16 January 2024, 11 tracked keywords were on page one. As of 17 September 2026, 15 of 67 tracked keywords are on page one and 41 are in the top 30. Some of the positions:
- #2 for "indian travel agent" and "indian travel agents" (about 170 searches a month each)
- #2 for "indian travel agents brisbane" (about 30 searches a month)
- #4 for "indian passport renewal brisbane" (about 170 searches a month)
- #7 for "OCI Application" (about 6,600 searches a month)
- #6 for "Travel Agent Bundaberg" and #10 for "Travel Agent Mackay"
Not everything went up. Some core terms that sat at #1 in 2024 are now #2, and "travel agents brisbane" has dropped off page one. The gains came from document services and regional Queensland towns, which is the pattern in the table above. Source: SE Ranking rank tracking, Google Australia, as of 17 September 2026. Rankings move, and past results are not a promise.
Links: relevance before authority
Travel is a market where on-page work only gets you so far. Links from trusted, relevant websites help Google treat an agency as a real authority. Careless link buying does the opposite, and after Google's September 2026 spam update it is a bigger risk than it used to be.
For SAI World Travel we studied where the ranking competitors get their links, then scored every prospect with our own Priority Value system. A community or travel website that fits the agency counts for more than a high authority score on a site nobody in the audience reads. Outreach is white-hat only, with a quality checklist for each prospect and anchor text tracked so the profile doesn't lean on one phrase. The plan ran as a 13-week roadmap with a workbook covering outreach, anchors, monthly reporting and a disavow watchlist.
A website checklist for travel agents
- Phone number and hours on every page, with click-to-call on mobile.
- One page per service with its own search demand: flights, packages, group tours, document help.
- Prices written as "from", with what is included and the date the fare was last checked.
- Real people: agent names, photos and the languages your team speaks.
- Accreditations and memberships you genuinely hold, with the number where there is one.
- An enquiry form that asks what an agent needs to quote: departure city, dates, flexibility, number of travellers.
- Plain terms on deposits, cancellations and fees for document services.
- Google reviews shown with a link to the profile, not pasted quotes.
- Destination photos compressed, because large images are what usually slows a travel site on mobile.
If the site needs rebuilding first, we do that in-house in Pallara. See web design Brisbane for how our builds are quoted.
Google Ads and Meta for travel agents
Bidding against airlines on "flights to London" mostly buys clicks from people comparing fares. Google Ads works better for an agency on narrow terms: your own name, document services, specific packages and community plus route searches, shown only in the areas you serve. Phone calls should be tracked as conversions, because a lot of travel bookings start with a call.
Meta Ads on Facebook and Instagram reach people before they search. Group tours with fixed departure dates suit this well because there is a real deadline. So do school holiday and festival periods, when people plan trips home to see family.
Organic social works when posts are useful: tour departure dates and document reminders, not stock beach photos.
Advertising rules worth getting right
Australian Consumer Law expects an advertised price to include compulsory fees and charges, so a fare on your site or in an ad should show the total a customer must pay. For document services, make it clear you help with the application and that the government body makes the decision. If you hold ATAS accreditation, show it with your number.
What it costs and how we start
SEO plans start from $900 a month, month to month with 30 days notice. Some projects need the first three months paid upfront, and the proposal says so when that applies. Website builds are fixed price on a written quote, and most five page brochure sites land between $900 and $2,500. More detail is on our SEO pricing page.
Every project starts with a free 45-minute discovery call with Amann Jhamb. Book a time here.
