The short answer
For Castle Hill businesses choosing between SEO agencies: ours keeps the technical, content, link and local people on staff rather than hiring per job. One address, 1 Cheshire Street in Pallara, Brisbane. Month to month terms, and the audit lands before the first invoice.
Retail here is one very large landlord and one long street
Castle Hill retail splits in two, and the halves need different thinking.
One half is inside Castle Towers. Trade in a centre that size and your listed address is the centre's address, your hours are the centre's hours, and the centre's own site usually outranks yours for your own trading name. Most tenants never notice, because foot traffic hides it until a quiet quarter.
The other half runs along Old Northern Road and the streets off it: specialty shops, salons, cafes, showrooms with their own door and their own carpark. Their problem is the opposite. Nobody walks past by accident, so the map listing does the finding.
The metro made both busier. Castle Hill station put more people on foot near the centre and pushed more searching into lunchtime and after work.
So when a retailer here shortlists agencies, the question is not who is cheapest. It is who knows which half of the suburb you sit in.
Where we are, and whether it matters
There is no Sydney office. We work out of Brisbane, at 1 Cheshire Street in Pallara, and would rather write it here than let you find it in the fine print. Some agencies pitching a Hills postcode are running a virtual office, so if a local address matters, ask to be met there.
The honest ledger. You lose the drop in and the coffee on Old Northern Road. You keep the mechanics, since Search Console, your Business Profile and your site behave the same whichever state the person typing sits in.
Then the part that ends the debate. Three things set your map pack position: where your verified pin sits, which categories you chose, and the distance to whoever is searching. Nothing about your agency enters it. We could rent a desk above Castle Towers and your listing would not shift.
Do the arithmetic before you sign anything
Here is the exercise almost nobody does before hiring an SEO agency. It takes fifteen minutes.
Ask for the search volume behind the terms in the proposal. Not the keyword count, the monthly volume. Then work out what share you could win, what portion of that traffic enquires, and what a customer is worth over a year. Multiply it out.
Sometimes the answer is obviously good. Sometimes the whole term set is four hundred searches a month, half already yours because they contain your business name, and no agency can make that maths work. Better to know in week one.
Two more checks separate agencies fast.
Ask what share of the monthly hours goes to the Business Profile rather than the website. For a shop that should be substantial, and an agency treating the profile as set and forget is mispricing your account.
Ask to see a live monthly report with the client details blanked out. A rankings table at the front tells you what the retainer really buys. Calls, forms and store visits at the front tells you something else.
An agency that finds either request unreasonable has told you plenty.
Our answers to both of those
Reports open with enquiries. Rankings sit further down, being a means. Profile work is itemised on its own line rather than folded into a vague local allocation. Links come from outreach to real Australian sites and you get the URLs. Retailers selling online get Shopify search work rather than a generic content plan, and local search is done by the people writing your pages.
Other Hills centres
Each centre trades differently, so we quote them separately. SEO agency work in Baulkham Hills and Kellyville, plus Bella Vista, Cherrybrook and Norwest. The work itself sits on SEO in Castle Hill, the wider mix on marketing agency in Castle Hill.
