Immidesk: building our own SaaS product from idea to launch

Immidesk is our own software product: a CRM and practice management tool for immigration agencies with 2 to 10 people. Our team took it from an idea to a launched product that’s now live with agencies at immidesk.com.au. It’s the clearest example we have of how we approach an MVP. Alongside the search work we designed the website.

The short version

Immidesk is launched and in use by small immigration agencies. On the marketing side, 25 of its 46 tracked keywords were on page one of Google as of 17 September 2026. (Source: SE Ranking rank tracking, Google Australia.)

What we did for Immidesk

  • Custom softwareSoftware written by our own developers to fit the business.
  • Website designPlanned, designed and built by our own team, then kept up to date.
  • SEOTechnical fixes, content and links, reported by enquiries not rankings.

What we delivered

Rankings are one line on the report. For Immidesk the engagement covers custom software, website design and SEO. We designed and built the website, structured for search from the first wireframe rather than optimised after the fact. The SEO programme runs on top of that: technical fixes, content written for the searches that actually turn into enquiries, and links earned in the client's own market. Where the business needed software that did not exist, our developers built it.

Because one team does all of it, the site, the search work and the ads pull in the same direction.

The challenge

Small migration agencies usually juggle a lot of moving parts. Leads come in from several places, each client has a case with deadlines, and consultations need notes that the whole team can find later. In many small practices, this lives across spreadsheets and inboxes that don’t talk to each other.

Large practice management systems exist, but they’re often built with bigger firms in mind. A team of three doesn’t need every feature. It needs the everyday work in one place, at a size that suits a small office.

We’ve worked with migration agencies on their websites and SEO for years, including Success Immigration, Education Embassy and Visa Point. That gave us a close view of how small agencies actually run day to day.

What we did

Started with the smallest useful version

An MVP (minimum viable product) is the simplest version of a product that solves a real problem well enough for people to use it. Instead of building everything at once, we focused Immidesk on the daily jobs a small agency can’t do without.

Built the core features

The launched product covers:

  • Case management
  • Leads and client management
  • Scheduling and consultation notes
  • Task management
  • An agreement builder

Each feature was chosen because it replaces a spreadsheet or a scattered email thread.

Built it in-house

The design and development were done by our team, with nothing outsourced. That kept decisions quick and meant the people building it could talk directly with the people using it.

Launched, then listened

Launch day is where the real learning begins. Feedback from the agencies using Immidesk shapes what gets improved next, and small teams tend to tell you quickly when something slows them down.

Marketed it like a client project

A product nobody finds won’t grow. We applied the same SEO approach we use for clients, writing in the words agency owners search with and tracking the results in SE Ranking.

Results

  • Status: launched and live at immidesk.com.au, used by immigration agencies of 2 to 10 people
  • Agencies using Immidesk: 25+ agencies as of September 2026
  • Search visibility: 25 of 46 tracked keywords on page one of Google as of 17 September 2026

The search figure comes from SE Ranking rank tracking on Google Australia. Tracked keywords are the specific searches we chose to monitor for Immidesk, and positions move from week to week. Software searches are a tough space, because Immidesk sits next to much larger, established products. Having more than half of its tracked keywords on page one gives a small, focused product a real chance to be found by the agencies it was built for.

For us, the bigger result is that the product is in use. An MVP only proves itself when real teams rely on it, and that’s the test Immidesk has passed.

Fun fact

Shopify started in 2004 because its founders wanted to sell snowboards online through their shop, Snowdevil, and didn’t like the software available. Plenty of good software starts the same way, with someone fixing a problem they’ve seen up close.

Marketing tip (lesson learned)

Before you build any app, write one sentence this week: “[Who] needs to [do what] without [current pain].” Then show it to five potential users. If they don’t lean in, change the sentence before you spend a dollar on development.
