MVP development for founders and owners with a software idea

MVP development means building the smallest version of your product that solves one real problem for real users. We help you clarify the idea, pick the features that matter most and plan a first version you can actually launch. Then our team builds it in-house, here in Brisbane.

Consulting: The smallest version that proves it.

The short answer

MVP development in Brisbane from a developer who launched his own SaaS. Clarify your idea, pick the must-have features and plan a first version you can ship.

What is an MVP, really?

MVP stands for minimum viable product. Think of it as a focused version that proves people will use it (and ideally pay) before you spend on everything else.

Most software ideas we hear arrive with 40 features attached. But a first release with 40 features is slow to build and hard to test. Six well-chosen features get into users' hands sooner, and their feedback tells you what to build next.

Why MVP consulting comes before code

The most expensive mistake in custom software development is building the wrong thing well. MVP consulting is where we stop that from happening.

In a consulting phase, we work through:

  • Who the user is and what their day looks like.
  • The one problem they'd pay to fix.
  • Which features are needed for launch and which can wait.
  • What the product needs to connect to (payments, email, calendars, existing tools).
  • A realistic build plan, with pricing as a written quote once scope is clear.

If you're not sure software is the answer at all, start with digital growth consulting instead.

Worked example: Immidesk

Status: Launched (immidesk.com.au)

Immidesk is our own product, so we've lived this process as the founder as well as the developer. It's a CRM and practice management system for immigration agents, built for small agencies of 2 to 10 people. It has launched and is live with users.

The problem

Small migration agencies often juggle spreadsheets and generic CRMs that weren't built for visa work. Working on marketing for agencies like Success Immigration and Visa Point, we kept seeing the same admin pain.

The must-have list

We kept the first version to what a small agency needs every day:

  • Case management
  • Leads and client management
  • Scheduling and consultation notes
  • Task management
  • Agreement builder

What waited

Anything not needed to run a case from first enquiry to signed agreement went on the "later" list, which kept the build focused. It's now live with agencies at immidesk.com.au. It is used by 25+ migration agencies across Australia (as of September 2026).

Other products we've built

Immidesk isn't the only one. Our team have built a range of products, and every one of them has launched. You'll find them on the products page:

Psychic Chat, Solar CRM, Transport Audit System, Selection Gallery Software, Education Agent Software, Builder Listing Tool, Auto Mechanic Workshop Software, Car Rental Software, Small Business CRM, Client Portal for Agencies, Online Food Ordering, Skip Bin Hire Application, Salon Management Software and Hardware Store Management System.

Building our own products means we've already solved common problems like bookings and user roles, and that experience feeds straight into your MVP.

Fun fact

Shopify started in 2004 because its founders wanted to sell snowboards online through their shop, Snowdevil, and didn't like the software available. Plenty of great products begin as a fix for the founder's own problem.

The tech stack

We build on proven, well-supported tools so your product is easy to host and maintain:

  • PHP with CodeIgniter for fast, structured web applications.
  • MariaDB for reliable relational data.
  • AI features where they save users real time, such as drafting notes or summarising records.
  • Australian hosting on our own cPanel/WHM server, covered on the hosting and technology page.

How we work: the MVP process

  1. Problem interview. We talk through the problem and how people solve it today.
  2. User map. We sketch each type of user and the steps they take inside the product.
  3. Must-have vs later list. Every feature goes in one of two columns. Only must-haves make version one.
  4. Clickable prototype. You click through the screens before any code is written, and we can show it to real users.
  5. Build. Our in-house team builds the MVP in stages, with regular demos so there are no surprises.
  6. Launch. We deploy to Australian hosting and onboard your first users.
  7. Feedback loop. We watch how people use it and plan the next release from real data.

Marketing tip

Before you build anything, write a one-page description of your product and send it to ten people who have the problem. Ask them one question: "Would you pay for this, and how much?" Their answers will shape your must-have list.
