What we delivered
Rankings are one line on the report. For Ultimate Car Expert the engagement covers website design, SEO, Google Ads and Meta Ads. We designed and built the website, structured for search from the first wireframe rather than optimised after the fact. The SEO programme runs on top of that: technical fixes, content written for the searches that actually turn into enquiries, and links earned in the client's own market. We also run the paid side, Google Ads for people already searching and Meta Ads for the people who are not yet, and report both in the same plain-English update as the organic numbers.
One team, one report, one number that matters: enquiries.

The challenge
Independent workshops share the search results with national servicing chains. The chains usually have bigger ad budgets and names everyone already knows. If a small workshop tries to outbid them on every search, the money runs out quickly.
What an independent usually has is a local story, often including a direct line to the person actually working on your car. The challenge is getting that across in a three-line ad and on the website, so drivers have a reason to choose the local option.
There’s also a cost problem. Every car service search a workshop pays for is a search the chains are bidding on too. The more of those searches a workshop can win organically, the less it depends on that bidding war.
What we did
Google Ads that pick their battles
Rather than chasing every broad “car service” search, the campaigns focus on searches where a local independent has a real shot. The ad copy leans on what makes the workshop different from a chain, and spend is watched closely so it goes where enquiries actually come from.
SEO blog content
We wrote blog content around the questions drivers ask about servicing and repairs. These articles give Google more reasons to show the site in organic results, and they show readers the workshop knows its stuff before they ever pick up the phone.
Paid and organic working together
Ads bring in enquiries now, while blog content builds visibility that doesn’t stop when the budget does. Over time, a stronger organic presence means the workshop depends less on paying for every click. We keep an eye on both, so the ads can pull back where the site already ranks well.

Results
SEO
These figures come from SE Ranking rank tracking on Google Australia, as of 17 September 2026. They’re tracked keywords, meaning the specific searches we chose to monitor for the workshop, and positions move from week to week.
- 91 tracked keywords on page one
- 161 tracked keywords in the top 30
- 203 keywords tracked in total
That means more than four in ten tracked searches show the workshop on page one, and most of the rest sit within the top 30. For an independent up against national brands, that’s a lot of free visibility. We never promise rankings, and these positions will move, but a spread this wide means the workshop isn’t relying on one or two phrases to be found.
It also changes how the ads budget works. When the site already sits on page one for a search, the ads don’t need to fight as hard for it, and spend can go to the searches where the workshop is still building.
Google Ads
- Cost per booking or enquiry: average $26 per booking or enquiry over 12 weeks (June to August 2026), down from $44 at launch
Fun fact
QR codes were invented in 1994 by Denso Wave, a Toyota group company, to track car parts in factories. The car industry has shaped more of digital marketing than most people realise.
Marketing tip (lesson learned)
If you’re a small business up against big brands, search your main service on Google this week and read every ad on the page. Write down what none of them say (a named local owner, or the exact suburbs you cover) and put that in your next ad. Being different often beats outbidding.
