Affordable Skippy Bins: suburb by suburb local SEO for a skip bin business

Affordable Skippy Bins hires out skip bins across Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan and the Gold Coast. Our team worked on its local search visibility suburb by suburb, so the business shows up when someone types “skip bin hire” plus the name of where they live. Alongside the search work we designed the website and run the Google Ads and Meta Ads campaigns.

The short version

When rank tracking started on 22 March 2024, 1 tracked keyword was on page one of Google. As of 17 September 2026, 38 tracked keywords are on page one, 24 of them in the top 3, and 87 are in the top 30, out of 149 tracked. (Source: SE Ranking rank tracking, Google Australia.)

What we did for Affordable Skippy Bins

  • Website designPlanned, designed and built by our own team, then kept up to date.
  • SEOTechnical fixes, content and links, reported by enquiries not rankings.
  • Google AdsCampaigns built, tracked and optimised by our in-house team.
  • Meta AdsFacebook and Instagram campaigns, creative and audiences managed by us.

What we delivered

The search work is the part with the tidiest numbers, but it was never the whole job for Affordable Skippy Bins. We designed and built the website, structured for search from the first wireframe rather than optimised after the fact. The SEO programme runs on top of that: technical fixes, content written for the searches that actually turn into enquiries, and links earned in the client's own market. We also run the paid side, Google Ads for people already searching and Meta Ads for the people who are not yet, and report both in the same plain-English update as the organic numbers.

One team, one report, one number that matters: enquiries.

The client

Affordable Skippy Bins is a skip bin hire business offering a range of bin sizes for household and building waste. Its customers are mostly householders and small builders who want a bin dropped off quickly and priced fairly.

The challenge

Most people searching for a skip bin add their suburb. That’s good news for a local operator, but it also means the business needs to be visible across dozens of suburbs, not just “Brisbane”. Each one is a small search on its own, and the big players often don’t bother covering them well.

The other part of the puzzle is the brand. When a business name includes a word people also search with, like “affordable”, it has a real chance to rank for those price-minded searches if the site backs it up.

What our team did

The tracked keyword set shows two clear focus areas:

  • Suburb coverage. Most of the tracked terms are “skip bin hire” plus a suburb, spread across Brisbane’s south and east, Logan and Ipswich (from Acacia Ridge and Carina to Forest Lake, Jimboomba, Beaudesert and Booval).
  • Price-minded searches. Terms like “affordable skip bin hire” and “reasonably priced skip bins” line up with the business name and what its customers care about.

We kept each suburb page tied to a real service area, so Google has a clear reason to show the business for that location.

Results

  • 38 tracked keywords on page one, up from 1 when tracking began
  • 24 tracked keywords in the top 3
  • #3 for “skip bin hire acacia ridge” (about 70 searches a month)
  • #3 for “affordable skip bin hire” (about 10 searches a month)
  • #6 for “skip bin hire forest lake” (about 90 searches a month)
  • #6 for “affordable skip” (about 110 searches a month)
  • #9 for “skip bin hire sunnybank” (about 140 searches a month)
  • #1 for suburb terms such as “skip bin hire basin pocket” and “skip bin hire bremer”

Many of these suburb searches are small on their own. Added up, though, they put the business in front of people in dozens of areas who are ready to book a bin. We never promise rankings, and some of these positions move week to week, but the base is now broad.

Fun fact

The .au country domain was first delegated in March 1986. Australians have been able to register direct .au domains (like yourname.au) since March 2022.

Marketing tip (lesson learned)

List the ten suburbs your best jobs came from last year. Search “your service + suburb” for each one on your phone and note where you appear. That list is your local SEO to-do list, and it’s usually shorter work than chasing one big city-wide keyword.
